Count Basie Center for the Arts
Location 99 Monmouth St, Red Bank, NJ
Project Size 46,030 SF
JRM Construction Management completed a major renovation at the historic Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, New Jersey. Opened in 1926, the venue was modernized to preserve its architectural heritage and add new spaces for education, operations, and community programming.
The renovation spans the basement to the third floor, transforming the lower level into new dance and classroom studios with Harlequin floors, full-height mirrors, faux skylights, and soundproofing. The first floor features a new box office and reception area with specialty ceilings, box office windows, and a custom curved stair. On the second floor, JRM built new offices and conference rooms with Teknion glass, ADA restrooms, a high-end pantry, and open work areas with exposed brick. The third floor adds more offices and collaborative spaces.
The project also included replacement of MEP systems and exterior improvements, including repointing and waterproofing the theater’s historic brick chimney. All work was performed while the venue remained operational, with temporary acoustic protections to ensure uninterrupted performances and events.
